Ringing in the New Year...

...is always so much fun and means so many different things to different people. It's out with the old and in with the new. New beginnings....a fresh new start....a new outlook on life...new projects...new adventures...and the list goes on. For me, I'm hoping 2010 will be filled with many new craft projects, decorating ideas, flea markets, and to just continue to inspire, be inspired, and evolve. 2010 is going to be a fabulous year!

I wanted to share with y'all some great things and eye candy for New Years that are right up our Two Junk Chix alley. I just love banners for every season and I found this New Year's banner that is so pretty.

A display of clocks {old & new} about to strike midnight is a cute idea for a New Year's display.

The classic simplicity of a champagne bottle in a silver cooler is timeless...

...and what a fun spin on bubbly? Just take those left over Christmas ornaments and fill up champagne glasses and voila! Thanks Martha!

What a fun way to customize your bottles for your party...

This idea is so great! Give each of your guests their own bag of confetti attached with their own noisemaker and they are set for when the clock strikes midnight.

And the display on the cake stand is always a good choice. Thanks again, Martha!

What do you take to the New Year's party you've gotten invited to?

Hostess Gift Ideas

A nice bottle of wine is always a great choice. I found these cute little knitted stocking caps and scarves to dress up a wine bottle. I mean, don't ya hate to buy those wine bottle bags? This is just so much cuter!

Here is one of my new favorite hostess gifts. I started buying these last year and they are always a hit. These are a few vintage door knob wine bottle stoppers that you can choose from. You can find them at http://www.knobstoppers.com/. These make the perfect gift to take to that New Year's Eve party!

This is the one I have!!

From Two Junk Chix, we hope that 2010 will be a fabulous year and bring you much love, happiness, success, and many blessings!!

For the love of burlap...

Decorating with burlap has become one of my newest favorite accessories. I just love it! Janae and I love the simplicity of it, it's texture and the natural color and element it brings to a room. I would cover my entire house in burlap if my husband would let me! I wanted to share with y'all some ways I have brought burlap into my decor.

These banners were found on Etsy from one of the sweetest sellers ever! I'm addicted to them. My newest one is this WINTER one that is covered in silver glitter! I love the shiny glitter on a backdrop of the casual, natural burlap fabric. You can find them here and tell her that Tia sent you!

I keep this one up all year round!

This iron stand was a steal that Janae and I found at the Sandwich Antique Market. I'm not sure what it once was, but I just had to have it for $4! The antique market was closing down and I spotted it as we were leaving. I think it was destined for the dumpster and I feel like I rescued it and brought it back to life! It held a pumpkin during the fall and now it holds a wreath with one of my favorite Wendy Addison German glass glitter wall hangings that spells out W-I-S-H. And the big burlap bow is the finishing touch.

So I'm loving the burlap bows and I'm not even a bow kind of gal. This one was added to the top of my vintage bird cage. I love how the burlap ribbon drapes around the cage.

These vintage spools of thread needed something to kind of pull them all together so what did I use? Burlap, of course! Now they don't look like a hot mess of thread just laying on a table. The scrap burlap ribbon unifies them.

And lastly, I had to add one of my more recent purchases from one of mine and Janae's favorite catalog.....Ballard Designs! The entire catalog is eye candy. When I saw this burlap tablecloth I knew it had to find its way into dining room. It's casual but elegant at the same time. Ok ok ok....I know I need to iron it, but I couldn't wait to get it on my table! And with 5 kids, who has time to iron anyway?

thanks for visiting!!

Tinsel time...

It's that time of year and Janae and I just LOVE to decorate for Christmas. Here is some yummy eye candy and a few fun ideas that I did in my house this year...

I'm in love with flash cards and here are a few Christmas ones that I bought from http://www.carikraft.etsy.com/. Go check her out. She is so sweet and you will just love all of her stuff!

My 11 year old son, Bryson helped me come up with this fun idea for our bird cage. A vintage inspired ornament dangles from the top of the cage and it's topped off with a big ole burlap bow and of course, a bird!

I pulled out my soldering iron and took a break from all the custom orders I'm working on right now to make this adorable little soldered glass snowman charm. I thought my mannequin might need a little touch of Christmas bling and I think this is the perfect spot!

More burlap and coffee filters

Janae inspired me to put Epsom salt in a glass container and add these yummy chocolate glitter taper candles. Very simple and elegant...

Here is one of the Christmas wall hangings that Janae and I made last year on one of our craft nights. I hung them on a vintage chip display stand we found at the antique market.

I love the shine and sparkle of vintage glass Christmas ornaments. I even love it when they are chipped. I can only imagine where these lovelies have been and how many Christmases they have seen.

Who wouldn't love a gathering of Tiffany blue boxes, leopard print ribbon, and vintage sheet music?

Janae and I are loving glass cloches. Here are a few that I have scattered around my house:

You can take the girl out of Texas, but ya can't take the Texas out of the girl! Giddy up!!

Janae put this French wired tiered display stand together for me for Halloween and I loved her idea of vintage sewing pattern shreds. I changed it up a bit for Christmas and added a silver plate layered with a robin's egg blue plate (thank you, Janae for the gift) and added a few Christmas touches and voila! It's perfect on my kitchen counter!
