I saw a workshop being advertised to make a joy marquee sign. I asked an associate if you made it that night and he said yes. I was excited to go and make it. I even invited 2 of my friends to go. We were all excited. Well our excitement turned to disappointment when we learned at the workshop that you didn't get to make the project just watch an associate make it. We were told that we could spend 100s on supplies and tools and do it ourself. Well we along with most of the other ladies that were there left the store once we realized that we in fact were not making the sign. I was hugely disappointed that we didn't make it that night and that I probably wasn't going to make it cause I didn't have the tools or was not going to purchase them either. </span></div><div><br></div><div>I thought about it and made up my mind that wasn't going to happen. Not this crafty girl!!!! I put my thinking cap on and thought how to "do this" without all those tools. </div><div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"> I came up with the idea to use a premade chalk board from Hobby Lobby. It was already framed and the background was there to hold the letters for marquee. It was $7.99 reg price. I left mine the original chalkboard on my finished project but you can paint it if you would like. I used the cardboard and chipboard letters from Hobby Lobby too. </span></div><div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeSuvlHSWXgOmEPf9gURfNleaU4bQiBfXAgC4Q3qC-n9m0b9LQOIyB5zgtytA-Zy7jbZfYFkVQ5BbEftpbIZo4b4M7ZehwmCarDZz2vVPj8LVbCrwpYQZOj24vQbZ_Fl4q3v771i2V-g0/s640/blogger-image-296516867.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeSuvlHSWXgOmEPf9gURfNleaU4bQiBfXAgC4Q3qC-n9m0b9LQOIyB5zgtytA-Zy7jbZfYFkVQ5BbEftpbIZo4b4M7ZehwmCarDZz2vVPj8LVbCrwpYQZOj24vQbZ_Fl4q3v771i2V-g0/s640/blogger-image-296516867.jpg"></a></div></span></div><div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br></span></div><div><br></div><div><font face="Helvetica Neue Light, HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif">All supplies that I used to make mine. I used to have an awesome vintage ornament collection from my mom but unfortunately most of them got broken when a shelf in my basement fell on them years ago. I was only able to salvage a few of them. So with that being said, I decided to take new ornaments and make them look old. Before I get started, I have read almost every tutorial on Pinterest on how to antique new ornaments and I have to say that none of the techniques worked for me to achieve the look I was going for. I wanted my ornaments to be faded and spotty like they have hung on many trees over the last 80 years. Doing the nail polish remover and paper towel just didn't cut it for me. So read below and I'll share with you how we did ours.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2gEE1MekrKRIcQjeTFrH-623mRxNrXzz1S4VBUwiGt1TiVrtwVuUdQes3pJ1PRVLKcZK-nAxqgXSsQ_t8G8a1kedeG280GtcA5miVETAyR22zpMxmRwKGYqlTR9bnYR3PegvM2imNZ3E/s640/blogger-image--1747466437.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2gEE1MekrKRIcQjeTFrH-623mRxNrXzz1S4VBUwiGt1TiVrtwVuUdQes3pJ1PRVLKcZK-nAxqgXSsQ_t8G8a1kedeG280GtcA5miVETAyR22zpMxmRwKGYqlTR9bnYR3PegvM2imNZ3E/s640/blogger-image--1747466437.jpg" /></a></div>
First, you want to start with glass ornaments. You cannot use those shatterproof ornaments.....they need to be glass. And you need a TON per 14" wreath form. I wish I could tell you how many you need but it all depends on what kind of look you are going for. I say buy more than you think you will need and go from there. You will need:<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>glass ornaments in various sizes and shapes</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b> styrofoam wreath form (we used 14" from Hobby Lobby) </b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b> 15 ft strand of tinsel (we used gold and it was $4 at Walmart)</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b> hot glue gun ( a ton of hot glue)</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>acetone nail polish remover</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>nail brush</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>sandpaper</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>steel wool #0000</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcuTAQGSHCgrnX00GAxafgrvEj50LKlk7tW9IyhtNBY4ulX8-EP_tZTUJzreB7PJFEVd1NvM7qLfyNmgm9FoYEpme910EPYLppFSY93jCNOx57ZAA3mrXmAqWzjmISFmH5VkGI2zuqtdE/s640/blogger-image-1782003395.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcuTAQGSHCgrnX00GAxafgrvEj50LKlk7tW9IyhtNBY4ulX8-EP_tZTUJzreB7PJFEVd1NvM7qLfyNmgm9FoYEpme910EPYLppFSY93jCNOx57ZAA3mrXmAqWzjmISFmH5VkGI2zuqtdE/s640/blogger-image-1782003395.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I hit the jackpot and got a ton of glass ornaments at Big Lots for very little money. I cleaned our store out!!!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPm5-w7NIS9bpHzUcPNP8pfpw2IVyI1QmjYWwsCh5lTwappOtOOoJCIjsadzhbDkHPlzDAI5vxUaHgxfy-irpUoJd7n-sYnV7_TtYVyE1quFba5k0WLdW2yiWATlaETbg__dgFGFB6iLM/s640/blogger-image-122801076.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPm5-w7NIS9bpHzUcPNP8pfpw2IVyI1QmjYWwsCh5lTwappOtOOoJCIjsadzhbDkHPlzDAI5vxUaHgxfy-irpUoJd7n-sYnV7_TtYVyE1quFba5k0WLdW2yiWATlaETbg__dgFGFB6iLM/s640/blogger-image-122801076.jpg" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">I wanted more of the mottled and faded look for my ornaments. The blue ornaments were easier to do. All we had to do on those was soak them in acetone for about 30 seconds and then start wiping away the blue paint with a paper towel and the nail brush. I actually used a circular motion with the nail brush because I wanted areas of the ornaments to have no paint at all. Depending on the look you want, you can do more or less on each ornament. Remember, these are supposed to look like they have seen 80 years worth of Christmases. The silver and gold ornaments didn't work with the standard nail polish remover and paper towel method. So we used a combination of sand paper and the best was the #0000 steel wool. We just lightly went over the ornaments with the steel wool. Once you remove a lot of the "shine" with the steel wool, you really don't need to do the next step with the nail polish remover. Like I said, it's just a personal preference on what look you are trying to achieve. </span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">The photo below is an example of the mottled sort of spotted look that I was going for. All of my vintage ornaments that were salvaged all look like this so I wanted the new ones to look the same. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjb9R37ldTpx87O_RQ6SaCYEa0FOasNoEBgZORGNJzBj_EAG-WMeWpiV_VBVKstxM7tcBSW91m7CjPEqhICnbZ8OTWDC6lo7MeO7ZzYmOXhtvIPj5w924HxDitrJOm1dMwEDOlfeazoih4/s640/blogger-image-610249088.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjb9R37ldTpx87O_RQ6SaCYEa0FOasNoEBgZORGNJzBj_EAG-WMeWpiV_VBVKstxM7tcBSW91m7CjPEqhICnbZ8OTWDC6lo7MeO7ZzYmOXhtvIPj5w924HxDitrJOm1dMwEDOlfeazoih4/s640/blogger-image-610249088.jpg" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">This is kind of a time consuming part so I recommend getting a friend or two to keep you company and help while you do this part. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGlwsJ3BMaA0AyKoVWnrByjB91l5E8mewydVHgbDeZMmKAie0wiEEc7xfQgc4xdFzemep74bgGQKIrZ2s9ARwMQiyx6x6C0w9_NzaGNkF5z9XAAaOkPgX374jPbO3lDUeH5YUiLwNrasE/s640/blogger-image-653240182.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGlwsJ3BMaA0AyKoVWnrByjB91l5E8mewydVHgbDeZMmKAie0wiEEc7xfQgc4xdFzemep74bgGQKIrZ2s9ARwMQiyx6x6C0w9_NzaGNkF5z9XAAaOkPgX374jPbO3lDUeH5YUiLwNrasE/s640/blogger-image-653240182.jpg" /></a></div>
<b><span style="font-size: large;">Now for the FUN!!!!!! All the ornaments are done so lets get out the tinsel!!!!!</span></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTKz7mq8ie3isumvDsTKm4Pg18YUuusdcbJzCBM8MPWUhNCNd8KcuvxwFjzepeHjjqYzFShDiL37zZHAcY6eZ7W70h71cHgVP8iYaSFahlcVaBnq6hPkCj84YKxogHcmyyIeNJyLmZLZY/s640/blogger-image--1511221765.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTKz7mq8ie3isumvDsTKm4Pg18YUuusdcbJzCBM8MPWUhNCNd8KcuvxwFjzepeHjjqYzFShDiL37zZHAcY6eZ7W70h71cHgVP8iYaSFahlcVaBnq6hPkCj84YKxogHcmyyIeNJyLmZLZY/s640/blogger-image--1511221765.jpg" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">You want to secure your tinsel on your wreath form with a dab of hot glue and wrap it around the entire wreath form and then secure the other end with hot glue. We used a 15 foot strand of gold tinsel that I got at Walmart and it fit perfectly on the 14" wreath form. The wreath form was purchased at Hobby Lobby. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkKf3ITYP3JrKI8Fp9JBWVtbyenj8_hjizBRnJ2WkUITVPyWq9BKT_zWqRcQM48Vtkap8Tep6O1Py8G0KDlmyq_eA4aPg-iSmHihfDMssjkdHAbVXq_Qlbz1Hh8vY0ju4Dodz8_3sJ9Gk/s640/blogger-image-450007312.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkKf3ITYP3JrKI8Fp9JBWVtbyenj8_hjizBRnJ2WkUITVPyWq9BKT_zWqRcQM48Vtkap8Tep6O1Py8G0KDlmyq_eA4aPg-iSmHihfDMssjkdHAbVXq_Qlbz1Hh8vY0ju4Dodz8_3sJ9Gk/s640/blogger-image-450007312.jpg" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">This is where you can get as creative as you want. Remember there is no right or wrong way to do this.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjE8qzVuLStiUUFkV4WfV3wZuKA4qWK2w4efHrynXU_hmIt5rrfBVl3lFqGtm2W9A-7WmlexmK_dxx7xapS02PNGaJmcEsphzxCaLlNNTVEJvW9KndOwGkX_IrflnqMDF_zB3XRlzPtQVg/s640/blogger-image-278454379.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjE8qzVuLStiUUFkV4WfV3wZuKA4qWK2w4efHrynXU_hmIt5rrfBVl3lFqGtm2W9A-7WmlexmK_dxx7xapS02PNGaJmcEsphzxCaLlNNTVEJvW9KndOwGkX_IrflnqMDF_zB3XRlzPtQVg/s640/blogger-image-278454379.jpg" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">We started by hot gluing the largest ornaments to the outside perimeter and then the smallest ones on the inside perimeter. (See photo below)</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH2u1utHDrbINOipJ2SHUWZWyFKzpelyRqfPCazxBfrep8tVW_MeiJu_O_bgRmVkpsLq8o0dpJ_87xeJ4-MuQL0druQXRt0ZZkaGxxWhiJH_BpL0lMb8oPbq-WwHv_nW8EmhTbfh-oHXA/s640/blogger-image--1637608018.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH2u1utHDrbINOipJ2SHUWZWyFKzpelyRqfPCazxBfrep8tVW_MeiJu_O_bgRmVkpsLq8o0dpJ_87xeJ4-MuQL0druQXRt0ZZkaGxxWhiJH_BpL0lMb8oPbq-WwHv_nW8EmhTbfh-oHXA/s640/blogger-image--1637608018.jpg" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">From there, you just start filling in the empty space. It's ok if some of the tinsel is peeking through. The best advice I can give when making a wreath like this is to not over think it. That's the mistake that most people make with these types of wreaths. Just start randomly gluing the ornaments and then fill in later with the smaller ornaments and trust me....you can't go wrong and mess this up.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

I love this color combination. Because there are too many projects to talk about on the mantle, I'll create several posts of tutorials for you. As much as I love Anthropologie, I really love all the Pinterest knock off versions a ton. Here is how we made ours.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_rxcwXVraljK5z43o65-6NIyrwQjM4XSbf6Qrl0hp8fITBJsoBt0iXcDrk70MKdvSKzKOt_naQmnF1RAP0vaUTVdSS7xuNanZW_pfHrxzTeesUBS599SdMHEld3g3ZF-bbJ9xwcsWL_8/s640/blogger-image--456268762.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_rxcwXVraljK5z43o65-6NIyrwQjM4XSbf6Qrl0hp8fITBJsoBt0iXcDrk70MKdvSKzKOt_naQmnF1RAP0vaUTVdSS7xuNanZW_pfHrxzTeesUBS599SdMHEld3g3ZF-bbJ9xwcsWL_8/s1600/blogger-image--456268762.jpg" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">1. Start of with a hay wreath form ($5). I chose the largest size because I have a big door. With this size form, you will need 4 rolls of yarn (about $18). The larger and fluffier the yarn, the better....in my opinion. Then you will need some push pins or U shaped floral pins will work well, too. Now, let's stroll down memory lane to when we were in Kindergarten.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjz-573bwyJjubxK8BVqIVY7cc_46TYBZZYoba5AQOOV23ufMnz6gqAMDMd__O7xwwuSMnjysmZ3OpGjqyjcmC4rgKm2xnqJcvaCbJImIqoAiagrUxsm3eNp9v-hedeLdYvofX-sDkK6Z4/s640/blogger-image-805825501.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjz-573bwyJjubxK8BVqIVY7cc_46TYBZZYoba5AQOOV23ufMnz6gqAMDMd__O7xwwuSMnjysmZ3OpGjqyjcmC4rgKm2xnqJcvaCbJImIqoAiagrUxsm3eNp9v-hedeLdYvofX-sDkK6Z4/s320/blogger-image-805825501.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">2. You will want to cut a strip of yarn to about 8" or 9". From there, you start wrapping the yarn around your 4 fingers. We wrapped each one 40 times around our fingers. The more wraps, the fluffier the pom pom. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXUYTfcYCqtjeaVoK0nYA8baUqSjc4j1dj9UFl-x00nblhcg_xQAx-EBcYbIYz7zIqRsMIsxifN5GGhOu4pTGPUhVddHLQy2xGSMcZDJjBDUnkwdPIG_AGsYgv8DSD8fAujkHF0Ugh6AM/s640/blogger-image--2117019724.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="272" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXUYTfcYCqtjeaVoK0nYA8baUqSjc4j1dj9UFl-x00nblhcg_xQAx-EBcYbIYz7zIqRsMIsxifN5GGhOu4pTGPUhVddHLQy2xGSMcZDJjBDUnkwdPIG_AGsYgv8DSD8fAujkHF0Ugh6AM/s320/blogger-image--2117019724.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">3. Then you carefully slide it off of your fingers and it will look like this. Place the wrapped yarn on the strip you cut first. Then tie it in a knot tightly in the middle.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcfo5pgjVCkJOCffbZeBnKaCGBtuYBcHdnz8OrrK8icQI2YpRghe_JCJbkAe8heAnvLNzSOuprXrjePuSmgSn3-HO4ldeFjCotlff7j6Jbvw5JazINbC-kESnJEGof36SCj1fvEvZt5Ao/s640/blogger-image-1683523564.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="311" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcfo5pgjVCkJOCffbZeBnKaCGBtuYBcHdnz8OrrK8icQI2YpRghe_JCJbkAe8heAnvLNzSOuprXrjePuSmgSn3-HO4ldeFjCotlff7j6Jbvw5JazINbC-kESnJEGof36SCj1fvEvZt5Ao/s320/blogger-image-1683523564.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">4. Once you have done that, take your scissors and cut all the loops. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGoTLG2VKfsKCn5Zt6lrzI_ZNKLfYK5dguSc75Fe-O21rRhuHj9209ad8re33To9GCwqyMH4j37gktyVtMSyvhcqVc5mGRGLZedC8O-RsNGfTbgLSrQbzPduKASYnEnna42cZIFlzbY5w/s640/blogger-image-63401017.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGoTLG2VKfsKCn5Zt6lrzI_ZNKLfYK5dguSc75Fe-O21rRhuHj9209ad8re33To9GCwqyMH4j37gktyVtMSyvhcqVc5mGRGLZedC8O-RsNGfTbgLSrQbzPduKASYnEnna42cZIFlzbY5w/s320/blogger-image-63401017.jpg" width="302" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">5. Voila! You will have a pom pom. We trimmed the uneven strands to make it more like a ball. The next step is to pin them on your wreath form. Probably the simplest wreath I have ever made. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSlXHoK2fh4uoUgbJhfM74Ca-3OrT8qoF51T3nYeUbG37_mN2tKs1MsR9_5nnRCd1ODRreLrWvBfDs45XAr50DNf8N5kdG8SpcaEKpZVAMIV6nX7MIiBI5fCVb3GlkkqNiLWLWYIj5F14/s640/blogger-image--347809887.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSlXHoK2fh4uoUgbJhfM74Ca-3OrT8qoF51T3nYeUbG37_mN2tKs1MsR9_5nnRCd1ODRreLrWvBfDs45XAr50DNf8N5kdG8SpcaEKpZVAMIV6nX7MIiBI5fCVb3GlkkqNiLWLWYIj5F14/s320/blogger-image--347809887.jpg" width="250" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">You can embellish it anyway you'd like. I decided to make a big fabric bow for mine. Thank you Anthropologie for inspiring all of us!!!</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Tia and I made these Halloween wreaths using a just a few supplies</span>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL579927bWWqNz8-O1gFD-hgGc5NVnSeXvFreztwltfC5xk3EGL2FD_GO6y6RzQUcuEJuOBQv14q5Wv0vNt1e_swiDs2XaHaU9LLyTI1LZ4F1KhR9WjXkqIfPUWDbNR6RG8-_g5rkd4mg/s1600/IMG_7296.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL579927bWWqNz8-O1gFD-hgGc5NVnSeXvFreztwltfC5xk3EGL2FD_GO6y6RzQUcuEJuOBQv14q5Wv0vNt1e_swiDs2XaHaU9LLyTI1LZ4F1KhR9WjXkqIfPUWDbNR6RG8-_g5rkd4mg/s320/IMG_7296.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Here is how we made them:</span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">1. Tie any wreath form with varying lengths of black tulle. 2. Crinkle vintage book pages and coffee filters and pin them randomly on the wreath form or attach using hot glue. 3. We used a 6" embroidery hoop with a black lace doily and attached it to the side. 4. Decorate the hoop any way you'd like. Tia painted orange chevron to a fabric banner and hot glued black glitter letters to hers. I cut a banner using some of the book pages and some black rope. I stamped the word Boo on the banner flags. I added a little owl and made a "bow" from some coffee filters and book pages.</span><br />

I love Halloween decorating! I have this huge glass cloche on my dining room table and decided to go with a ghost theme this year. <br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7tVHHn92GglBocgdXlNRuOjr0M3oDm2WWKTzCoeF6S9U-zwecN7s6drMUgcb0d3kVsgyToZyFlkCbXE075y4avGjI5C-y1oF8trLO9gKiJWl-gIm5BrKBPXAGyFVTAY9pghZaZBVjpKg/s640/blogger-image-407266460.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7tVHHn92GglBocgdXlNRuOjr0M3oDm2WWKTzCoeF6S9U-zwecN7s6drMUgcb0d3kVsgyToZyFlkCbXE075y4avGjI5C-y1oF8trLO9gKiJWl-gIm5BrKBPXAGyFVTAY9pghZaZBVjpKg/s640/blogger-image-407266460.jpg"></a></div>Very simple. Just filled the cloche with pillow stuffing and then cut out ghost eyes and mouth from a black duct tape sheet. Simple and so fun!!<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGD8xOgeAdpVAfC3yNM37YtKV3DnoMkptcyPGpklsNSIuik7HRRk0iqmK80H15h_GHfF8NFkNncypG82gM8UOvjEHUbH-bwg4lFLRkO-sjW6PamBXYPzLIi5uxj_R1rSrkrz80Gfyly18/s640/blogger-image--721563775.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGD8xOgeAdpVAfC3yNM37YtKV3DnoMkptcyPGpklsNSIuik7HRRk0iqmK80H15h_GHfF8NFkNncypG82gM8UOvjEHUbH-bwg4lFLRkO-sjW6PamBXYPzLIi5uxj_R1rSrkrz80Gfyly18/s640/blogger-image--721563775.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Happy Haunting!!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Tia & Andrea</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div>twojunkchixhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13648748490743481103noreply@blogger.com33tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3824814178940602283.post-72038884809305510572013-06-23T10:33:00.001-07:002013-06-23T10:33:53.618-07:00Ships Wheel WreathSS Dowler!!! I am loving this new wreath I just made for my front door. I wanted something that represented summer but didn't want it to look like the usual wreaths you see everywhere so I came up with the idea to make one that looked like a ships wheel. It was so easy to make!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVQYCwNd1pCjYZeZd1oEx-eWGjoQ6MICHQaJGzPw2GUleh5e28yU9qysgadfIRfNyFHUPYa8Vd5mRrrq-2h3xLOjXzOhyphenhyphenkp1L4LOpZKNISt2dlZWxoQ5Thola-c0bjJDaAzCSNScHQ_Ak/s640/blogger-image-474906418.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVQYCwNd1pCjYZeZd1oEx-eWGjoQ6MICHQaJGzPw2GUleh5e28yU9qysgadfIRfNyFHUPYa8Vd5mRrrq-2h3xLOjXzOhyphenhyphenkp1L4LOpZKNISt2dlZWxoQ5Thola-c0bjJDaAzCSNScHQ_Ak/s640/blogger-image-474906418.jpg" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">⚓ I purchased a hay wreath at my local craft store but you could use a styrofoam wreath form, too.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">⚓ I also purchased wooden finials in the wood craft section. I got 8 for the outside and 8 for the inside "spokes"</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw-4PB54-KAu9FtlIRfLIEAqNoR7SJRvIa2DFmh5r-hM3xSD1AccUCpMIQMoPGaINJ1YSYecQLFliREq4twaNK4jnb2OlNIvfiHR8bHQR6L_Lc18_VTZ4qPGKsjctBR-JPDOBCAhUY9KM/s640/blogger-image--1964880826.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw-4PB54-KAu9FtlIRfLIEAqNoR7SJRvIa2DFmh5r-hM3xSD1AccUCpMIQMoPGaINJ1YSYecQLFliREq4twaNK4jnb2OlNIvfiHR8bHQR6L_Lc18_VTZ4qPGKsjctBR-JPDOBCAhUY9KM/s640/blogger-image--1964880826.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-size: large;">⚓ I gave all the wooden finials a quick spray of my favorite Heirloom white paint</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_1PymsDEW_H4yBKJEKInAXqodNX44RKtI-ILaHu3aL0p1sW-gS6Wn-nU6n28STjohV9KndPiSfuRqMk9ryJVwpIvc-Dqo1K5nTipn7Lgmo4iAJHselwm7W-zFFhvKpN3fA0_pAiIJLIE/s640/blogger-image--1655824619.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_1PymsDEW_H4yBKJEKInAXqodNX44RKtI-ILaHu3aL0p1sW-gS6Wn-nU6n28STjohV9KndPiSfuRqMk9ryJVwpIvc-Dqo1K5nTipn7Lgmo4iAJHselwm7W-zFFhvKpN3fA0_pAiIJLIE/s640/blogger-image--1655824619.jpg" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">⚓ While the finials were drying, I wrapped the wreath form with some chevron burlap ribbon. You could also used just plain burlap or fabric to match your decor. I just secured it with a stick pin and dab of hot glue.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">⚓ Using the hot glue gun, I glued the finials around the wreath form in an even fashion. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">⚓ I then used my circle cutter and cut a big circle for the center and backed it on cardboard for stability. Then hot glued it to the center wooden spokes. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkTTwMRGfCXFt0m-zU1kovUmtITrMENjxqOjoWSXOTXj-hB8UyVF7IIpqNUkHoUQ7aENclqL3ZVzQ4rEXi3IR13Gbs-EBp3KQ6oJMvXC5td7hYpXeFlv5lbozl03xEzyusnd3Tw4B7jAw/s640/blogger-image--1807889557.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkTTwMRGfCXFt0m-zU1kovUmtITrMENjxqOjoWSXOTXj-hB8UyVF7IIpqNUkHoUQ7aENclqL3ZVzQ4rEXi3IR13Gbs-EBp3KQ6oJMvXC5td7hYpXeFlv5lbozl03xEzyusnd3Tw4B7jAw/s640/blogger-image--1807889557.jpg" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">⚓ My friend Amanda with Funkyshique had made me this mini burlap banner with my last name on it so I thought it would be cute to add it to the wreath. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-size: large;">⚓ Another cute option would be to put a painted wooden anchor in the center of the wreath. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-size: large;">⚓ Let us know what other options you can think of, too!!</span><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7Ir7j1AXzK1F0jxh7WtbsHP0Nw-WtKDptWvpLij4iYBwP7PvQiYsGcwmWICvZwsZA-mNbqCbfMZ0u14oEOHlXpg-LHEQlO86urnAlKLnzbBpWReDrCwZTMIiUkzl3gi4Ybs0M1e9FAys/s640/blogger-image--2094476283.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7Ir7j1AXzK1F0jxh7WtbsHP0Nw-WtKDptWvpLij4iYBwP7PvQiYsGcwmWICvZwsZA-mNbqCbfMZ0u14oEOHlXpg-LHEQlO86urnAlKLnzbBpWReDrCwZTMIiUkzl3gi4Ybs0M1e9FAys/s640/blogger-image--2094476283.jpg" /></a></div>

I painted it with chalk board paint and thought I looked good behind the crate. Added a couple mason stars in the Pepsi crate for an Americana fill. The crate beside the table is an old apple crate. I love the mix of woods and metal old and new. Makes me happy!!!!</span></div>

Hello Summer!!!!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well Tia and I have been super busy this spring and I thought it was about time to give some love to our blog. So here we are last day of May and this was the first Crafty thing that I have done in months. <br /><br />I made this wreath using a paper pad that I got at ACMoore that was filled with Summer Printed papers. I LOVE paper banners and came up with fun Paper banner wreath. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These are the supplies that I used.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
multiple pattern papers that I cut into 2 x 12 paper strips</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
a wire wreath form with multiple rings</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Glue sticks and gun</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Stapler</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Canvas banner</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Clear sealing spray</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Scissors</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
pencil</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
paint</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
brush</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
string</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqgRf5L4sV_mNJPDTXj0MUjjvebsbsavtiGXGji5l1PkQ-tgPGU-3NSRK7MuUMCeLeLhV_-FvL-iZFPqq42MuE9h_U-PxehNwO26us5zGQTlkX75h-ESkWi_zqTmfmycQLTPzOrgNoyMc/s640/blogger-image--113974069.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqgRf5L4sV_mNJPDTXj0MUjjvebsbsavtiGXGji5l1PkQ-tgPGU-3NSRK7MuUMCeLeLhV_-FvL-iZFPqq42MuE9h_U-PxehNwO26us5zGQTlkX75h-ESkWi_zqTmfmycQLTPzOrgNoyMc/s640/blogger-image--113974069.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div align="center">
I folded all the papers in half first to make the process fast. Once all the papers were folded, I attached the paper to the outer ring first on the wire form until they were going around the length of the form. I stapled the paper close to the form to hold it in place. I used the hot glue to glue the papers together once I had them in place. Then continued until I had all the rows completed. I cut all the "tales" in the paper once I had them all attached. I had a few strips left and rolled the paper to make the ring in the center. I thought it looked more finished. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3qwgHP8L3oAyFBrh6T05Mc4NWMi7gsdOCnngSw2q40P234kKGMWhPfVlxsN4vwbNkCSclTznGmUjPKjteqyYfAb7h-oJOTAU_k2JohimXIc3EkvVteGB2RyVnUSd3JVEmFQJER9XdfSs/s640/blogger-image-1480942115.jpg" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br />The Banner in the center, I used pre cut canvas banners that I got at Michaels. I hand painted the letters to spell "summer". I used some string glued the canvas to the string and covered the top edge with a strip of the patterned papers that was left. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I learned this the hard way. I hung my wreath up the night I finished it and the humidity in the air rolled the papers and the upper layer rolled over. I was so bummed to see that the next morning. Whipped out my glue gun and problem solved! I glued the backs of the paper to the under layers of papers which helped make it more sturdy. I added some clear acrylic spray to add even more support. It has been on the door for a couple of days now and is fine. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Here's to happy and fun filled summer!!!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"></span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Love Andrea & Tia</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">We cut all the doilies in half.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcemyzm8Moa4kHe-QfirAXo-o4bZ3ncNFkIGIvw3v614HWrHkcJU5nnLwM1iHdB46SU2gCxh0Km1xnk1KaINf7egSxHgyCBGZE0wOYyiWLZxhTF9DOI9ZhUyz1KD1mWZ72RsRab4tSqxY/s1600/059.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcemyzm8Moa4kHe-QfirAXo-o4bZ3ncNFkIGIvw3v614HWrHkcJU5nnLwM1iHdB46SU2gCxh0Km1xnk1KaINf7egSxHgyCBGZE0wOYyiWLZxhTF9DOI9ZhUyz1KD1mWZ72RsRab4tSqxY/s320/059.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"> Tia & I both did a different fold on the doilies when creating the wreath. The main idea here is to have it rolled in a tube shape and closed on the cut side of the doily so that you can glue that end down to the cake form. When we started gluing them down it really didn't matter how it was rolled. We used the 10 inch doilies on the back layer of the wreath.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"> TIP: make all your rolled doilies first before you glue makes the process go so much faster. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJGeV-jLR7CcPlOM2JxiOLz-sEzmF4VeRwpegIjtJWrbHtw6K_5STjm1LKJ7Jee5ict9WpdDJP0yZNKHMCdaOKc2Yk42xWJn86y42lxBeMkJczuZe31rRjooqaz0wFQxgEj3s5qHCVjMg/s1600/053.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJGeV-jLR7CcPlOM2JxiOLz-sEzmF4VeRwpegIjtJWrbHtw6K_5STjm1LKJ7Jee5ict9WpdDJP0yZNKHMCdaOKc2Yk42xWJn86y42lxBeMkJczuZe31rRjooqaz0wFQxgEj3s5qHCVjMg/s320/053.PNG" width="213" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Next layers is the natural Coffee filters. We folded the filters in half and then in half again. This makes somewhat of a triangle shape. Attach them with glue at the point of the triangle to form the next layer.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2MWyitcOwvZUcgiKieJKQjQ4Gwj-OB9eqVTNOhLrsrmgjWBG6Qi-Gczr5lJdRbB2hDtBCMSlnK8pXXuqwGqCyP5TTmomg7-xJ7sCofyDZMQDrOiWPCfssrmFuZ3nRbmE73d1pFEYI88U/s1600/058.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2MWyitcOwvZUcgiKieJKQjQ4Gwj-OB9eqVTNOhLrsrmgjWBG6Qi-Gczr5lJdRbB2hDtBCMSlnK8pXXuqwGqCyP5TTmomg7-xJ7sCofyDZMQDrOiWPCfssrmFuZ3nRbmE73d1pFEYI88U/s320/058.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Next is to repeat the first step but now use the 8 inch doilies and attach the rolled doilies to make the 3rd layer.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"></span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">We used red and pink dyed coffee filters that Tia had from another project to make the 4th layer. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">In the Center of the Wreath, we stacked and layered opened crinkled filters and some of the left over doilies to make the center of the wreath. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">We found the vintage metal hearts at a junk store in Va and thought that they made a perfect finish to our wreaths.</span></div>

<div align="center">
<span style="font-size: large;">I made these Valentine Pennants last weekend. I love the mix of papers and items that make up the arrangement. </span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-size: large;"></span> </div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-size: large;">You need:<br />pattern paper</span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-size: large;">dowel rods</span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-size: large;">small syrofoam balls</span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-size: large;">dollies</span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-size: large;">German glass glitter or plain glitter</span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-size: large;">Red glitter paint</span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-size: large;">pencil</span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-size: large;">ruler</span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-size: large;">hot glue</span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-size: large;">Mod podge</span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-size: large;">other embellishments to add to your pennants</span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-size: large;">container</span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-size: large;"></span> </div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-size: large;"> I used papers that I had purchase a while back at Hobby Lobby and layered them on cardstock for stability. I cut the shape of the pennants out with scissors. I just eyeballed it to get the shape. You can be more precise if you want and use a ruler and measure. I did use a ruler just for straight edge. I used hot glue to secure the pennant to the dowel rods. To the top of the dowels I added a styrofoam ball covered in glitter to give it a more finished look. I added a few embellishments to the pennants to decorate them up a bit.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The top pennant I free handed a heart with pencil and filled it in with mod podge and glitter. The bottom I free handed the word love in pencil and went over it with red glitter glue. </span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I got this little chalkboard heart at Michaels. It was already on the dowel rod. I wrote Jet'aime on it with chalk. </span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">This heart was from a project a couple of years and thought it looked good with the others. I die cut the heart out and stamped love on it. </span></div>

<br />In the vase I added some floral foam just hold it all together and so that it wouldn't shift all over. I added some vintage paper shreds to cover the floral foam.</div>

I love my room and I have made the best of the small space that I have.</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">The above picture is my desk space. <span style="font-size: large;">When I was at Tia's last month, I made a canvas too with the left over Fabric and Upholstery Tacks that Tia used on her project as seen here <a href="http://twojunkchix.blogspot.com/2012/12/upholstery-tack-canvas-art.html">http://twojunkchix.blogspot.com/2012/12/upholstery-tack-canvas-art.html</a></span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">I thought it was a simple take on her project and it was fast to make. I created it the same as Tia did in her project attaching the fabric to the canvas. I traced a heart shape on the fabric and pushed the tacks in and viola instant Valentine Art. </span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">As Valentine's Day is fast approaching, Andrea and I thought we should get a jumpstart on a Valentine craft. I was searching for inspiration online and came across a wreath on Google that was pink sequins and I loved it! So we decided to try our had at these wreaths and decorate them to meet our individual taste.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">When I was a little girl (see photo below....yep, that's me), I truly thought I was going to grow up to be a Solid Gold Dancer. I was so fascinated by them! So I decided to do my wreath in gold sequins. We found these styrofoam wreath forms at Hobby Lobby. Using a dowel rod, we poked it through the wreath form in a diagonal as if cupid himself shot right through it. Then you start wrapping the wreath form in whatever you'd like to cover it with. My next one will be burlap. Andrea used red tulle for hers.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">We've been seeing these glitter tipped feathers all over Pinterest so we decided to add these to the wreath, as well. Using glittering glue, just paint the tips with the glue and pour your glitter on them. I used gold and Andrea used red on hers.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjm1UXrKCEnJgAWi7-8HmXonuXfhz1I_8bVkYB7-YrxCOn3wdpniq9pF_V96IfL8YPvbzVGSw45haHhk9G__kDTAuXIlnqOyGMpG-fTrNDW0vJYHmUWRlAS8ZUOu9wXAEWanmbxEiDG85M/s1600/photo+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjm1UXrKCEnJgAWi7-8HmXonuXfhz1I_8bVkYB7-YrxCOn3wdpniq9pF_V96IfL8YPvbzVGSw45haHhk9G__kDTAuXIlnqOyGMpG-fTrNDW0vJYHmUWRlAS8ZUOu9wXAEWanmbxEiDG85M/s320/photo+4.JPG" width="282" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Using the standard accordion fold technique, we added lollies to cover up the bottom of the feathers. Andrea used shredded paper behind her lollie that was left over from our garland project and I used pink paper fringe behind mine. </span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">We cut out triangles from vintage paper and hot glued them to the tip of the dowel for the arrow's point. We then used the rest of the feathers (I had to cut mine shorter) as the bottom of the arrow...attaching them with hot glue.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Ok so this isn't a twojunkchix original idea at all but I have to share it with everyone!!! I got the idea from pinterest (from mom's party cafe savvy tips) for this ornament storage!!! It is pure genius and cheap to make one yourself!!! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I finally got all my trees down this past weekend. I had pinned the idea months ago and knew I wanted to utilize this idea when I was packing up and storing my ornaments until next year. So much easier than sticking them back in the cardboard plastic tray that they originally came in. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmP_7zDdoKgVP0H4RQB7p3QEge5j4rkNXqbwKAQdc7H9lw4jsqmaP3ZqGQeedNhJ6r5ycH5fxohdiA4Qt4pufyPafPHR-TGgeiFKXJnmswXcn7YRljl7mBn_nq1fNjzHq84-7gtIC9z0U/s640/blogger-image-1453282618.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmP_7zDdoKgVP0H4RQB7p3QEge5j4rkNXqbwKAQdc7H9lw4jsqmaP3ZqGQeedNhJ6r5ycH5fxohdiA4Qt4pufyPafPHR-TGgeiFKXJnmswXcn7YRljl7mBn_nq1fNjzHq84-7gtIC9z0U/s640/blogger-image-1453282618.jpg" /></a></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-size: large;">This is what you need:</span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-size: large;">Tote</span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-size: large;">cardboard or foam core board</span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-size: large;">plastic drink cups</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">As usual, when Andrea and I get together, we craft. She came down to Virginia to visit and we made these *unique* garlands that we wanted to share with all of you. We just love how they turned out!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">You are NOT going to believe what they are made out of!! We had fun with out Facebook friends trying to guess what medium we used. We had some great guesses, like fleece, felt, wool, and fabric but we used none of those. We used something so basic that every household has.......we used paper towels! To be exact, we used Viva brand paper towels because they feel more like fabric.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Since they are basic white and as much as we love white, Andrea knows how much I love gray, we dyed a bunch of them gray, too. {We used Rit Dye in Pearl Gray} To get them to dry quickly, my wonderful husband, Brian gave us the idea to dry them in the microwave. We did this in 30 second intervals. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Here is how we made "flowers" from the paper towels. We cut them in half longwise and layered 3 sheets on top of one another. Then we folded them accordion style, tied the center with jute twine and then started fluffing and fanning them out. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYNRwxWLERUzTettAsGbsdjl8W3GuOwPHfM24YMXElDsngCRDmxWfB0XZj_QMbXsXpOJH4CCdY-UEk2Kx66zSk_X_YsGjRfebvkS03A76-7CRy6jUZLSypSvcPdkBC0hDr7YfZ5l9Ucxg/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYNRwxWLERUzTettAsGbsdjl8W3GuOwPHfM24YMXElDsngCRDmxWfB0XZj_QMbXsXpOJH4CCdY-UEk2Kx66zSk_X_YsGjRfebvkS03A76-7CRy6jUZLSypSvcPdkBC0hDr7YfZ5l9Ucxg/s320/photo+1.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">We purchased garden craft lights because we liked the brown cord as opposed to white or green. We then tied our paper towel flowers to the light strand. We wanted to make our lighted garland a bit more fluffy, so we cut strips of paper, strips of paper towel, and accordion folded natural coffee filters and tied them together with jute twine. We tied them in between the flowers for a fuller effect.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Valentine's Day is going to be here before we know it so I wanted to get a jump start on a new craft. I like to do projects that don't scream the specific holiday so you can utilize them all year long. Everyone knows how much I just LOVE chevron and I found this beautiful red and cream chevron duck fabric that I have been wanting to use.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I cut the fabric 1-1/2" larger than the canvas size I used and stapled it to the wooden frame of the canvas. Since I used upholstery tacks that have a longer shaft, I hot glued a thick piece of foam core board to the back of my canvas so the tacks wouldn't poke through. You can also do this with thumb tacks that have a shorter shaft but since I had these gorgeous upholstery tacks on hand, I decided to use them.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Using a stencil, I positioned my letters on the fabric covered canvas and drew them out using a pencil. Now the fun part is pushing all the upholstery tacks in to fill in your stencil. I had to use a hammer on some of these to get them through the wooden frame. </span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I could have just left it alone but I wanted to take it one step further and glittered an old wooden clothes pin with silver glitter and hot glued it to the top of the canvas. Now is houses this adorable black and white photo of my 5 kids. You can change out your pictures or clip an old Valentine card on it. I'm working on some more that say XOXO using pink and white striped flannel fabric. LOVE!!!</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">Hope all of you have had a very Merry Christmas. I'm looking forward to the New Year!! Andrea and the rest of my family will be here tomorrow night and I am so excited!! So I decided to make this adorable New Year's centerpiece to welcome them as we ring in 2013 together.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKtVshdF1RYpZSh_kIHtrnDsT9KPkA3mo8fXsZizBi4jN4ObWwYhrvwdC35j4RUa2dsYX7avo7CWbdy6UKsAohA3oMF31B6zqEq8mbHiWlXholcwDIjcYTiVl0bvLfVFf7fHg791_CjVw/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKtVshdF1RYpZSh_kIHtrnDsT9KPkA3mo8fXsZizBi4jN4ObWwYhrvwdC35j4RUa2dsYX7avo7CWbdy6UKsAohA3oMF31B6zqEq8mbHiWlXholcwDIjcYTiVl0bvLfVFf7fHg791_CjVw/s320/photo+2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Using vintage ledger paper, dowels with glittered wooden balls on the ends, vintage enamel watch faces, tinsel and number stickers, I was able to create this whimsical centerpiece of flags, lollies, and a party hat. I just love how it turned out! I think I'll keep it out the entire month of January. </span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Using my go to vase of sugar, I felt it needed one more thing so I added 2 vintage clock faces that I've had in my decorating stash for years now. I just love clock and watch faces and they are perfect for a New Year's theme.</span></div>

Every year we get lots of Christmas cards from friends and family all over the country. We love seeing all the kids precious faces, seeing how everyone has grown and changed and love getting updates on everyone from the year. But what I don't love is not having a place to store all of these wonderful cards that we get. And I don't like throwing them away. I guess you can say I'm somewhat of a card hoarder.....LOL! So I decided to make my own special book just for Christmas cards.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;">*</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;">➸ ➸ ➸</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;">*</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSqbym-NBHHbZbUW0gGnGferPYM46gijGTM5jweW6kCetEec3TsqTq-sQSIGeedKCazMOMr9vrwTex4NRPRfBgG875AQdq7acNA9PLsKpW4366bK-z5t9jHDlr-zf94NvuYMq-jogau9w/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSqbym-NBHHbZbUW0gGnGferPYM46gijGTM5jweW6kCetEec3TsqTq-sQSIGeedKCazMOMr9vrwTex4NRPRfBgG875AQdq7acNA9PLsKpW4366bK-z5t9jHDlr-zf94NvuYMq-jogau9w/s320/photo+1.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Everyone who knows me knows how much I love to work with paper. So I took all the pages out of this old book and set them aside for future wreaths and other paper projects. Punched a few holes in the book, added metal rings and some simple scrapbook supplies and now I have a place to keep all of my favorite Christmas cards. This took only a few minutes to do, looks cute and now I have all of our Christmas cards in one spot.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The idea got stuck in my head once I saw these little trees at a store in Kentucky that we were shopping at. I loved them but the price for me was too much to pay. The ranged from $19-29 each. I knew I could recreate for much less and I did!!!!!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Supplies needed</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<strong>*Trees</strong> I picked mine up from Walmart in the Christmas village section. Best prices I found.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The trees are only .75 to $2.00 each one </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<strong>*Mini Ornaments </strong>assorted colors</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
*<strong>Pliers </strong>I needed these to pull off the ornament topper</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<strong>*ModPodge </strong></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<strong>*Foam paint brush</strong></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<strong>*glitter</strong> I used a mix of gold and silver chunky craft glitter</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<strong>* glue gun and glue sticks</strong></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Glue all ornaments on the trees.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next take the foam brush and modpodge and stipple the glue on the branches in a tapping motion so that the modpodge doesn't clump up. </div>

<span style="font-size: x-large;">* ➸ *</span></div>
<br />
Since our Snowball Wreath from nearly 2 years ago has been so popular and featured in the Dec/Jan 2013 issue of Ladies Home Journal, Andrea and I decided to do a spinoff of the original. See the orginal post <a href="http://twojunkchix.blogspot.com/2011/01/snowball-wreath.html">here</a>. I went back home to WV this past weekend to do a Crimson Clover jewelry show and we were able to get together and craft with our friends to create this new version. We love how they both turned out. I did mine with a neutral palette since that is how I decorate for the holidays and Andrea's version is in traditional Christmas colors. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0zqWplYbTx4MKpmYUeQwEigJB6uaER0_g366D3WpzYPpTzX0LWIrCY9TmjWqZZDg_XKqqyayJWmRwAWJgqpFaB5-RrQR8bH9uYHJVsJ0-XZPBM3biuEdUc-z0JGEG_81ZXYhJiSLkAh4/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0zqWplYbTx4MKpmYUeQwEigJB6uaER0_g366D3WpzYPpTzX0LWIrCY9TmjWqZZDg_XKqqyayJWmRwAWJgqpFaB5-RrQR8bH9uYHJVsJ0-XZPBM3biuEdUc-z0JGEG_81ZXYhJiSLkAh4/s320/photo+2.JPG" width="238" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">➸ Here is how we made them:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1. We started with styrofoam wreath forms and wrapped them. I wrapped mine in jute webbing and Andrea wrapped hers in ribbon to match her yarn. We used burlap on our original wreaths.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;">➸</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2. Then the fun part begins....wrapping yarn around styrofoam balls of varying sizes. Be sure to have lots of snacks on hand because this takes patience and a lot of time. Did I mention it takes a lot of patience? Use hot glue to secure the yarn.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;">➸</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3. Since we both have a love for paper, we decided to make paper lollies for the center of our wreath. You need 2 pieces of same sized paper and fold them accordion style. We used 12"x12" scrapbook paper. Once you get one piece of paper folded accordion style, you fold it in half long ways and hot glue it to secure. It will make a paper fan. Remember those from when you were a kid? You make your second fan and all you do is hot glue both fans together to form a full circle.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
4. We used a cardboard cake plate as the base of our paper lollies and hot glued it on the front of the wreath. Then you just start randomly gluing your yarn balls to the wreath form. We also added bells to fill in the spaces but you can use ornaments or whatever you like depending on what theme you go with. And voila.....a gorgeous spin off of the Two Junk Chix snowball wreath!!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEXvcBH52oO2yHvNUpX4L52oYFvxTlMgW-Go2XwJfZSeA6dzG6ed5V7FTmj8MzvjubFT128FtuFH2mdo1nLp-YEXtgxH0qO0-LpQuFWu0f7FoS2hhDt6hSyepSN0B8rYNYZs34iVE5ecg/s1600/photo+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEXvcBH52oO2yHvNUpX4L52oYFvxTlMgW-Go2XwJfZSeA6dzG6ed5V7FTmj8MzvjubFT128FtuFH2mdo1nLp-YEXtgxH0qO0-LpQuFWu0f7FoS2hhDt6hSyepSN0B8rYNYZs34iVE5ecg/s320/photo+3.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I used a grayish Houndstooth paper for the center of my wreath since I went with a neutral palette. And then added one of my favorite elements....coffee filters!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ4Fo9XlXgIKw4aofxKkWIfHycDWucud1qe1OcGrU9MOJCTuA1VUgjk3a2AksUL-3HLvrafQrX55xVRr2KuT8LGksGRHLUayDf81jryV-fHwt3WhfxovLQeFPkMzKNw9sScpr1OFRYsds/s1600/photo+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="313" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ4Fo9XlXgIKw4aofxKkWIfHycDWucud1qe1OcGrU9MOJCTuA1VUgjk3a2AksUL-3HLvrafQrX55xVRr2KuT8LGksGRHLUayDf81jryV-fHwt3WhfxovLQeFPkMzKNw9sScpr1OFRYsds/s320/photo+4.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Andrea used two sizes of paper lollies {thanks to my mad folding skills} and layered hers on top of one another. I love how this turned out. Andrea used a metal star and glitter snowflake on top of her lollies. Gorgeous!!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Here is how they look on our front porches. We are so happy with how they turned out. We took something that we and everyone else loved and changed it up a bit to create these unique and original wreaths to adorn our home.</span></div>

This is so easy to do. My kids even helped!<br />
<br />
We brushed glittering glue on each bulb and then poured German glass glitter on them. You could use any glitter but I prefer German glass glitter because of its sparkly factor.<br />
<br />
Once they dried, I thought I could put them in a glass vase or a glass cloche but why? That would be expected. So instead, I adorned this vintage stamp holder that my mom gave me. I gave it a quick paint job with my favorite robins egg blue paint from Design Master. I just love how it adds a little touch of unexpected to the Christmas decor.<br />
<br />
Bling on!!!<br />

I have a little collection of vintage turkey candles but never know what to do with them.<br />

So this year, I proudly displayed one of these little guys in a fun and easy DIY project. I had these quirky turquoise candle sticks and permanently attached an old glass jar lid to one of them. Added my little turkey candle, some burlap ribbon, coffee filters, and old flash cards and voila....a cute fall display. After Thanksgiving, I think a cute glittered snowman will replace the turkey.<br />
<br />
Happy fall y'all!!!<br />
